Changing Domain Functional Level in Windows Server 2003
To raise the Domain Functional Level, Select Active Directory Users and Computers.
Use the buttons below to navigate through the lesson
Right-click on the domain. Select Raise Domain Functional Level. Select Raise to Change Mode. A warning box appears stating that this is a one way conversion. Click on OK to accept the warning. Click on OK to accept the warning. The domain is now in Windows 2000 native mode. Pre-Windows 2000 domain controllers can no longer replicate with this domain. Note the Universal Groups option which confirms the conversion was successful.
The forest functional level can be changed by using the Active Directory Domains and Trusts console. Click on Start. Administrative Tools. Active Directory Domains and Trusts. Right-click on Active Directory Domains and Trusts. ..and select Raise Forest Functional Level.
